Which file is actually final?
A new employee opens a shared folder. Inside are two documents.
One is called FINAL.docx. The other is called FINAL-v3.docx.
The second document was modified yesterday, so it must be the right one. Except it is not.
Three weeks ago, someone called the customer. An exception was approved. The decision was discussed in a meeting, confirmed in a message, and remembered by the people involved.
None of that appears in either file.
The organization knows which document matters. The folder does not.
Now imagine putting the world's most capable AI in the new employee's chair.
It can read both documents in seconds. It can compare every paragraph, identify inconsistencies, summarize the differences, and produce a confident recommendation.
But it still does not know about the phone call.
The organization begins teaching the model
The team uploads more documents. They explain the customer. They describe the exception. They correct assumptions. They refine prompts. They reconstruct the history behind the decision.
Eventually, the AI becomes remarkably useful. It appears to understand the business.
But the model did not arrive knowing the organization. People supplied the context, judgment, history, relationships, exceptions, and operating knowledge that transformed a generally capable system into something valuable to this particular business.
That creates a new kind of dependency.
A company may be able to replace one model with another in an afternoon. Rebuilding the context, history, permissions, decisions, and exceptions that made the previous model useful could take months.
The replacement arrives like another brilliant employee on their first Monday. Extremely capable. Knowing nothing about your business.
Where does advantage come from?
If every company can access the same frontier models, competitive advantage does not come from the shared model alone. It comes from what surrounds the model.
The organization's proprietary knowledge. Its decision history. Its operating context. Its customer understanding. Its accumulated judgment. Its ability to distinguish evidence from assumption. Its rules about who may decide, disclose, approve, or act.
The model was never the unique part. Everything the organization taught it was.
The MOSAIK design
